Inauguration Day

Idaho’s 47th inauguration of top state officials was on the steps of the Capitol Building yesterday at noon.  It was a cold and grey day here in Boise, so we in the Senate and House were very lucky to wait inside until 10 min. before the ceremony, when we were escorted, as a group, out to our reserved seats.  Pomp and circumstance abounded.   We had flags, color guards, and a choir of sweet grade school children singing the state song, “Here we have Idaho”.  There was also a young lady,  Miss Pre-Teen Idaho (she must be about 11), who sang two beautiful solos with great poise and presence, in spite of the cold. All the top officials of the state were sworn in by the Chief Justice and then the Governor gave his speech. Ha said all the right words.  Let’s see what he does.
